Day 1: The Most Important Question

Matthew 6:19;33
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal.
But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys,

For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.
But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given you besides.
REFLECTION: THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION
Why do you exist? Your life has inherent purpose and meaning beyond the random products of evolution. Deep down, you yearn for fulfillment—be it happiness, peace, or success—which material achievements alone cannot satisfy. This longing reflects that you were created by a personal God who desires a relationship with you, as articulated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: we find true happiness in communion with God.
All aspects of life—wealth, popularity, friendship—have their place, but they cannot fulfill our deepest desires. Only a loving relationship with God provides the meaning and purpose essential for a truly satisfying life.
This understanding acts as a compass, guiding your decisions and providing strength against temptations. The story of St. Thomas More exemplifies this, as he remained faithful to God in the face of tremendous pressure, famously stating before his execution, “I die the king’s good servant, but God’s first.” Prioritizing your relationship with God is crucial for genuine fulfillment and lasting happiness.
There are many questions that we can and should ask in life, such as what do I want out of life? What do I want for my family? What do I want for my business? Today, we pause at the most important question, which will shed light on every subsequent question: why do I exist?
NOVENA PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, I adore you with all my heart. Confiding in your deep, personal love for me, I make this novena in preparation for the consecration of my business to your glory and your service. I ask you to purify my heart and to make the consecration a sincere act of love and devotion that redounds to your glory, now and in the years to come. I humbly ask you to protect my business and all those who are or will be connected with it in any way: the leadership team, the employees, the clients, customers, and all who come into contact with it. Make this business a true source of consolation for you, a channel of your powerful and limitless love, and an instrument that serves to comfort, strengthen, and inspire many, especially those most in need of your mercy.
Trusting in your promise that anything that we ask of the Father in your name shall be granted, I humbly present to you today the following prayer requests:

CONCLUDING PRAYERS
