Last July 5, 2016, HWAW Certified Coach Jody Armstrong, together with HWAW Executive Director Armando Del Bosque, visited Hampton Farms in Severn, NC to attend one of their Caring Team meetings and Mission Action Team meetings. HWAW was honored to witness firsthand Hampton Farms management’s commitment to caring by continuing to develop their Caring Programs. Hampton Farms’ Caring Manager, Kyle Patterson, accompanied HWAW the whole time they were there and HWAW is so grateful for their hospitality.
Hampton Farms is a producer and processor of peanuts and peanut-based products with its origins beginning as far back as 1917 when the Barnes family first started growing peanuts in their North Carolina farm. After several acquisitions and the leadership of the company now within the family’s third generation, the company has become one of the leading roasters of in-shell peanuts in the United States.
The growth of Hampton Farms is related to the values honored by the company. The company’s mission is to become “the best nut company today” and they live by the E.Q.U.I.P. Hampton Farms Values which stand for:
E – Environment
(Protecting our natural environment and promoting excellence in the workplace)
Q – Quality
(Maintaining high quality products and services)
U – Understanding
(Providing their employees’ needs for work-life balance, and having a family-friendly workplace)
I – Integrity
(Conducting all business in an honest and godly manner)
P – People
(Giving importance and utmost regard to their employees)
A few years ago, Scott Gajewsky (back then HWAW’s Executive Director, now Board Member) visited Hampton Farms to help them better translate these wonderful values into the workplace so that they could be felt more by their people. Since then, Hampton Farms has developed programs especially designed to magnify God’s presence in the workplace. Today, Hampton Farms has a Mission Action Team and a Caring Team which help create the compassionate and friendly atmosphere in the workplace, all under the leadership of Caring Manager Kyle Patterson. They also have Corporate Chaplains for their roughly 1,000 employees who will willingly provide an understanding ear to any employee in need.
